Is there a reason to upgrade my skimmer if I have to buy a new pump?

I have a Super Reef Octopus SRO 2000 INT that I will likely have to replace the pump on. A new pump will cost me around $229. I am very happy with the skimmer. Is there something better out there. My tank is 120 gallons light to medium stocked. If I switch to something else, it will likely be another Reef Octopus.

What is wrong with the pump? If the pump is not performing well, have you considered just replacing the impeller?

If I remember correctly, the last impeller I bought from CoralVue was only $85.
