finaddict January 14, 2018 January 14, 2018 (edited) I dont think it is tempered but would like some confirmation since the manufacturer site is not helpful and their customer support is only Mon-Fri..... The bottom has painted tempered glass logo and also has a sticker that says do not drill glass enclosure.... Are those warning just for the bottom panels or does that include the side panels? I just bought it 2 months ago at Petco. Edited January 14, 2018 by finaddict
madweazl January 14, 2018 January 14, 2018 Generally, only the tempered panes have the sticker. I used video before drilling mine (Marineland).
finaddict January 14, 2018 Author January 14, 2018 Well just tried that test with some low quality polarized sun glasses and I think the tank front and back are polarized. It is hard for me to tell because the light source is a camera LCD panel since my laptop doesnt darken with my sunglasses. I hope this tank is not tempered but I guess I will have to wait until Tuesday and call Aqueon now.....

How about when you look at your cell phone through the same glasses?
finaddict January 15, 2018 Author January 15, 2018 So after some internet searching it seems that Petco has sold so many of the Aqueon tanks during the $1/gallon sales that Aqueon put together as many tanks as they could as fast as they could to meet demand. That means some of their tanks are tempered only on the bottom while others have tempered glass for all the panels. It is a roll of the dice literally. It also seems that depending on the Petco, they will allow you to bring back your tempered tank and exchange it for a non-polarized tank. I will be trying this exchange at Petco in Leesburg since mine is a tempered tank. Fingers crossed!
treesprite January 15, 2018 January 15, 2018 Who exactly on the internet said this? I have a hard time believing the manufacturer would do such a thing knowing that a lot of people drill those tanks. Doesn't mean they wouldn't do it, but if they do, it makes them a crappy tank manufacturer.
