epleeds November 27, 2017 Share November 27, 2017 I have always used the Eheim pumps for my tanks, but i am in the process of building a tank for my cousin and he is into all the new tech gear. Is the pump worth the price? Just some background. The tank is going to be a custom 72x27x22 rimless with an overflow in the corner. I have a 1262 running my tank which is bigger, so I'm wondering what all the hype is over the vectra's
madweazl November 27, 2017 Share November 27, 2017 (edited) I suppose it would depend on the needs. The 1262 is going to max out around 600gph so if that is sufficient, there is no reason to change it. While the DC pumps can be handy for dialing in a beananimal, it is impossible to beat the reliability of the Eheim. With that said, I think the Eheim's flow is insufficient for the tank but after checking some numbers, discovered I was only running about 3.5x turnover in my own tank the last year and a half without issue. pizzaguy November 27, 2017 Share November 27, 2017 Gotta choose reliability or coolness. Vectra is cool but in no way will come close to the reliability of a 1262.
