cane October 21, 2017 October 21, 2017 Just picked up my new 240. 8x2x2. Now that I took out a window to get in the house I think I over did it lol. But too late now. I’m excited. Tape on the floor represents where it will go along the 22’ wall on the main floor. I will sell the old tank and switch everything over. Also attacked is a pic of where it sits above the basement.
VTBig053 October 21, 2017 October 21, 2017 Love it! A man after my own heart. Go big or go home. Just gotta make it work. Cant wait to see the finished product. Good luck!
AlanM October 21, 2017 October 21, 2017 Wow, that is no joke. Very nice tank. You doing DIY stand? Putting sump in basement or below the tank? The spot you picked looks ideal for a large tank. It appears to be right along a wall that sits right on the main steel beam running along the joists. Also it will be perpendicular to the joists. Good spot. If I was doing it I would still plan to tie the stand in to the wall along the back in order to keep it from rocking forth and back if anyone is walking in front of it or bouncing. I just used toggle bolts into the drywall to give it some stability in that direction.
cane October 22, 2017 Author October 22, 2017 AlanM. Yes likely a DIY stand. I have a welder friend but not sure how to wrap it once it’s done. In terms of sump, not sure. Trying to decide on that now. Any recommendations? The tank will sit about 2” in front of that beam on the main floor and across 7 joists. I am told it will be one but I am still worried and am considering getting a structural engineer to look at it. Great idea attacking it to the wall. I am worried about bouncing.
fellterrier October 26, 2017 October 26, 2017 I just built a new house. After conferring with a structural engineer, I got the builder to double up the joist where the tank will sit near a corner wall on the first floor.
