dpassar12 June 5, 2017 June 5, 2017 Or could you point me to one online? Want to look at the maintenance schedule and warranty. Thanks... I have 3 blueLine pumps and can't seem to locate a manual. I also just bought an Iwake a few days ago and was surprised that it was a pump in a box with nothing,,.. no manual as well.
Origami June 6, 2017 June 6, 2017 Have you tried the manufacturer website (http://www.panworldamericas.com)? I've never seen a manual, mostly flow curves and mechanical drawings for the PX and PS series pumps that are common in the hobby. Their homepage states that their pumps come with an 18 month warranty on parts & labor.
dpassar12 June 6, 2017 Author June 6, 2017 Yes, I have been emailing back and forth with a rep over the last few day's over the broken pump. Long story short, I need to purchase a rear case and impeller! I'm like isn't this under warranty? Yes, but he said this is my fault "you need to periodically take the pump apart and clean it so these things don't happen" So now I am pissed becasue What does periodically mean as in how many times etc etc... I asked the rep for a manual no response yet. So I go to look for a manual in my fish docs, I have 3 bluelines no manuals. I look on their site no manuals. I just got a JPY Iwaki the other day and was surprised there was no manual as well. So I guess by exchanging a few emails he knows that the reason this seized is my fault even though they have never seen the pump! The impeller is 70.00 I did not even look at the price of the other piece because I'm not going to throw money at at a crappy pump that dies in 15 months... the pump was 200.00 so this is not getting fixed. When my other 2 die I replace them with Iwaki's... I have old Mag drives running years without and problems. When I took the pump apart it looked pretty darn clean to me. So much for warranties..
Origami June 6, 2017 June 6, 2017 You have a right to be upset if the pump is clean. I mean, what sort of periodic maintenance is required except to occasionally clean the thing? (Normally, for pump maintenance, that would mean every six months to a year.) A pump should operate longer and more reliably. At the very least, it should give you some sort of warning when things aren't quite right. Even old maxijets give you some indication when their impeller's getting ready to seize. If the pump was running hot, it might accumulate (calcium) deposits more quickly. A hot-running motor could arguably be considered a manufacturing defect and be covered by warranty. When you say that you need a new rear case, I assume that you're talking about the impeller housing and not the motor. Did the impeller seize in the housing?
dpassar12 June 6, 2017 Author June 6, 2017 I agree. I also have another identical blueline and it is running fine. There was always a small difference in noise between them from day one. The rep also said you may be able to tap the impeller out and then it should work again. 2 small taps and impeller shaft chipped. So I am screwed now, I could never prove it is a defect.. The pump was not dirty, I used a tissue to wipe the blades and the pump looked brand new, no calcium anywhere else in the housing.
