Train your fish. My six line will swim into the net to get food. As will my jawfish, and both clowns. Start off by letting food drift out of your net while it's in the tank. Stand there. Don't leave. These days when my fish see me walking by the tank they come to the front thinking they may get fed. When the net goes in the tank -- watch out!

what is wrong with the six line?

nothing, they're just impossible to get out of a tank. they can be aggressive-ish when they get bigger, too but i think more the issue is to just get him out if necessary.

IMO, it's really hard to get ANYTHING out of a tank, unless you have "the touch"

I never had an issue with sixlines before in my 10g, 30g or 75g, all got along great, just give them a spot to allow pods to grow, they love them!

Icknay on the 3-4 firefish in a 30g tank, two at best, actually would recommend strongly two!

I would not put a mandarin in there unless it was eating frozen or pelets. Too small of a tank to support one.

The 6line will be fine. no worries.

alrighty guys.......

seems as though the sixline will hopefully be cool for me.....he is about 1.5 to 1.75 inches right now...

he has gotten fatter since i brought him home from BRK....grazing on the pods.....i caught him and my hashe

yashe(sp?) gobie swimming side by side this morning....no probs!

before i get more fish i am gonna ask for some reccomendations.....no mandarin...ok......

how about other gobies..(firefish,rainfordi,etc)....clowns....cardinals.....others?

thanks for the help everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bryan

i would try to find a cool pair of clown fish, something no one has, i think gobies are cool but cardinal fish are boring they dont have a personality like other fish. :comp:

Definitely want to stick with smaller fish - maybe yellow clown goby. Would a Royal Gramma work here or is this too small?

Bryan,

I had a 10g in my office for quite awhile, the biggest issue I can across was the heat! The small tank was constantly going up and down with the room temperatures and my PC lighting, so keep that in mind!

Second, with only 20g, be careful not to overload your system too much!

PLEASE, No mandaran for that tank! Just won't be enough food for him there, let alone with a Sixline already on your wish list.

I would recommend a single Yellow Clown Goby, Sixline, Firefish and maybe a pair of clowns (No Maroons) for that size of tank.

Also consider a single Blue Neon Striped Hermit or Halloween Crab, beautiful crabs that loves algae, especially Red Cyanobacteria which could creep in with summer approaching!

No Mandarin, Pseudochromis, other Wrasse, (they will compete for food and there is not enough pods on a 20G), Nor Damsel (too agressive for wrasee and other fish).

Yes, perculia, ocillaris. clown goby, engineer bogy, neon goby, small royal gamma, and even a black cap will do fine, but no more than one please or you will deal with a overstocked tank/

just my 2

You don't need an anenome for the clowns. Plus one in that size tank will not give you much room for corals.

:why: i was thinking the rainford goby is too similar to the six line for my tank?anyone?

Bryan

i love my rainford. he filters the sand and chills out. No one bothers him and he does his own thing.

if you like them both then get them.
