Joshifer September 29, 2016 September 29, 2016 So the monti dpassar gave me and the pocci thaki gave me are doing great. I have them on plugs. On suction cup heater holders. Their looking good. Especially the pocci. Now I want more SPS lol. And gorgs since I'm spot feeding my feather duster zoo plankton. Anyway. (Which also got huge and Now has a 2nd row of feathers growing) I don't know if it's dumb luck. Or a hidden natural talent. Or God really sees that this tank is really alliviateing my depression and anxiety so he's making everything work out. But whatever it is. I seem to have a "blue thumb" and I'm thankful. That clam was doing good too but I was afraid of it. So i sold it for what I paid. (Or my wife paid anyway) Oh I got some kits today in the mail/trades My calcium is 500. And my phosphates were umm. 0.01%? Something like that. I need alk mag etc. tests. Or could have a neighbor check my water out. I want to try my hand at a RBTA. But I'm afraid. The war path isn't a problem all my rocks are isolated islands far apart. So I can stop it while it's on the move. Or just move the whole island. But I don't know they scare me. I read too much maybe. (I'm in love with my euph mountain I'll show you guys in the afternoon) I'll keep myself busy with SPS/Gorgs while i figure out the nem thing. Hopefully Bruce still has some for me.
Squishie89 September 29, 2016 September 29, 2016 Keep in mind anemones have a tendency to grow and split. This is a 90g (4 feet long). Those 2 RBTAs are sisters. The "original" anemone started out around 6-8" and then grew and grew then split and both have been growing. They can spread up to about a foot or so each.
SunWyrm September 29, 2016 September 29, 2016 Ooh! Are we posting anemone takeover pics? I'll play! 30g cube. There's two in this pic (they've each since split and now I have at least three more just chillin' in my sump).
Joshifer September 29, 2016 Author September 29, 2016 Okay. That's not fun. What if you just keep selling/giving away the older ones and keeping the new splits. To remain small?
SunWyrm September 29, 2016 September 29, 2016 It's very frustrating to get them out. I often refer to them as my wacky waving inflatable tube men, since they blow everywhere stinging everything. Now I keep things that aren't really affected near them (mostly bc they've killed everything else); helipora, macros, and an encrusting gorg that simply doesn't care. And they split in half, so you would get two equal of equal size. IMO, there is no "small" with nems, not for long. I'm lucky to have a rock their feet like so they don't wander. But they do stretch really far!

SunWyrm September 29, 2016 September 29, 2016 Yes.I really wouldn't try one with your tank. Mine killed all my sps in a 2' square and you seem to be just getting into them. Stick with a torch or similar (there's no glamour to owning a bta that a euphilia coral can't provide and your clowns won't care) and keep the frustration to a minimum for now. I think that's the one creature that I've sworn at the most in this hobby... maybe my fuzzy lions, but at least they're cute

SunWyrm September 29, 2016 September 29, 2016 We've all been there; it's an itch til you get one, then you have to try them all. I do love them... but I caution you to get a larger tank (or even a separate tank) so then you won't care what it does. This is my first time keeping them in a smaller system and I wanted to share my frustration since I could see it coming.
GOSKN5 September 30, 2016 September 30, 2016 I agree... I have had several and they frustrate me to no end... I would always check the tank to make sure it hasn't moved... I have the itch again tho and really want one as well.. but my tank is packed and I don't wanna risk it haha

I'll fill it up with water change water and use my rock. Lol.
madub03 October 5, 2016 October 5, 2016 If that day comes, mine keep splitting, I have 4 (2 RBTA and 2 green) right now and the biggest one looks like it's positioning to split again soon...
Rob A October 5, 2016 October 5, 2016 I had an RBTA for several years (and several splits!) before I nuked my tank last summer. Most of the time it stayed in the same place but one day I cam home from work and it had moved and was sprawled out all over a couple of monti's and it killed them. I want another one for my clowns but I will most likely move them to their own tank first. I picked up a small nem that was labeled as a rainbow something or other from Dr MAC's at MACNA 2016 that hasn't grown much in over a year so that will go in my display for now (when I move everything out of their holding tanks).
