Riding Metro

There is nothing wrong with the metro. Some of us locals are snobs about certain metro lines. It's just the local smack talk. For example I live on Capitol Hill, and I talk smack about the 'new' silver line that goes nowhere. And I am too good to ride on the cattle train they call the redline. Don't listen to us. The DC metro is seriously awesome. Virtually no crime, clean, cops everywhere, and too expensive for homeless people to ride it. I have never felt unsafe on the metro ever. Weekends it is full of tourists. Weekday mornings are a little claustrophobic and there is metro etiquette that you will get wrong.

One rule to remember: when on the escalator, stand on the right and walk on the left.

My wife hasn't driven in 4 years and loves it. She rides a section of the redline everyday.

I'm taking Metro. I live 3 blocks from the station, which is the good thing. The not so great thing is that it's on the long side (Wheaton instead of Rockville). I haven't checked yet to see how long it is supposed to take. Google GPS is really accurate with public transportation routes though (maybe a little too detailed at times), so I will check that way.

My question is, what if we win bulky raffle prizes and have to get them home via subway on top of carrying goodie bags and possibly coolers?

Train got delayed 3 times and I was late for my volunteer shift. Tomorrow I will leave extra early.

I discovered that it is actually a good thing to being just one stop from the end of the line - all empty seats. Within just 3 stops there was standing-room only. What I am worried about is Friday night coming back home.

It'll be my first time on the metro solo.. So all this redline talk is worrying me! Worst case scenario is I guess I'll be late for my volunteer shift Thursday night?lol

There were SO many delays going on! I missed speakers Friday and Saturday because of it.

I had to lug home some rock from Carib Sea, about 29 lbs of it. As I was getting off the train, I discovered that another WAMAS member was in that same car (behind all the people I guess), and he was carrying a bucket full of rock, so I didn;t feel so bad. People must have thought we were crazy, carrying around rocks.
