Reef Brite LED Tech/XHO/Lumi

Looking into some opinions and pros/cons of the 3.

thanks

I don't know enough about lumi. I have tech and am happy, works well with comparable size 2xt5ho. You loose a little of the pop with 4xt5 but you still see it. I'd assume xho gives twice the pop in the same space. I bought tech for a new build as my tech can get warm and I'm not sure how much more heat the xo would generate over what I assume is the same size heat sink. By heat, I don't worry about the tank...but the life of the leds.

hey ha, I use them all for different purposes from fish quarantine and treatment tanks main lighting to acro quarantine and grow out supplementation for ATI fixtures. they all work great especially as supplemental actinic supplementation to T5s or MHs. what size tank are you using it on, how tall is the tank, how high up do you plan on mounting the fixtures from the water line, what corals will you be keeping if any, and what is your main source of lighting if not the reefbrite itself?

I have not found any cons with the lights in my limited two years experience using them. you just have to use the right product for the right expectation of its performance. they are a fantastic solution and well supported.

Hey marco,

I will want to use the blue with a T5 fixture. Tank dept is 20", i would probably mount the T5 10-15" above water surface. Keeping a mix reef.

I have a similiar set up already with xho. Just wanted to see if the tech and lumi will the same look.

oh ok great so you know what to expect from an XHO. yes, the tech will be exactly the same light but less intensity due to quantity of LEDs per fixture. for a 20" tall tank and the fixture mounted that high I would definitely aim to continue with the XHO to get the punch and intensity needed. ideally one XHO per side (front and rear) of the ATI light at a slight angle inward for optimal performance. the lumi is not designed for actinic supplementation really rather a stand off light for freshwater and for soft/lps corals at smaller heights or fish only/FOWLR tanks. if looking for a t5 reefbrite solution for a new build you'll want to want to see what reefbrite releases at RAP NY which is a terrific consolidated solution at a fantastic price now custom to one's tanks needs.

Thanks marco. Very helpful. 2 reefbrite plus a T5 fixture... Hmm might as well get the ati led/t5 fixture... What do you think of that? :)

sure thing. it's up to you and largely dependent on budget. you don't have to jump to 2 XHOs off the bat. you can use one for a few months see how you like and think you might benefit from another vs dropping a bunch of change on a ATI/LED combo light. if you need help with either product or want to place an order you know how to reach me and I'm glad to help.
