TonyInVa May 19, 2015 Share May 19, 2015 Who still uses 250w double ended metal halides? It seems since the last time I bought bulbs they have lost popularity. There are not too many still available and not sure which to get. I tried looking at Sanjay's light guide but links to it seems to be broken. I need some input. Coral Hind May 19, 2015 Share May 19, 2015 I think Sanjay's guides are now old and haven't been updated. It was great info and very valuable about 10 to 15 years ago. Many reefers went to LED which is why the MH bulbs are not as popular. If I was still doing SPS I would run MH, much better colors and growth in my opinion. Although I don't use the DE bulbs anymore I did use the XM's in the past and they were really good, but pricey. They are still available. Do you already have the fixture? SE lamp are less expensive than DE so if you are getting a new fixture I would suggest the SE route and run Plusrite 14k or 20k lamps. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
