motti April 1, 2015 Share April 1, 2015 My ASM G5 finally starting to die out on me... and I am looking to get a new skimmer. My system has a total water volume of around 400 gallons or so. So far I'm looking either to get something used or something new (haven't made my mine yet) my budget is around 500$. I am currently debating between Skimz Oval SV223 DC Internal Protein Skimmer and Reef octopus 200 int elite (used for a month), both are around 500$. Does anyone have any recommendations? YHSublime April 1, 2015 Share April 1, 2015 the Avast CS3 is rated for up to 500 gallons, and IME they certainly can handle exactly what they are rated for. Plus, local vendor, plus American made.
motti April 1, 2015 Author Share April 1, 2015 (edited) Do you know if they also sell assembled ones? I've only seen the diy kit on their website Edited April 1, 2015 by motti

zygote2k April 2, 2015 Share April 2, 2015 I use a Reef Octopus 3000 INT on a 300 and an AVAST CS4 on a 500 and another on a 400. I can't tell which one is a better skimmer.
