They're so simple to use, why the heck did I wait so long to purchase one? Calibration was quick and painless, it's easy to read, it it was fairly cheap (didnt have the money to splurge on the Milwaukee). I've been using a Coralife Deep Six for years and never had any trouble but always wondered how accurate it was so I decided to check today and wouldnt you know it, they both provided the same results  Oh well, nice to know I guess.

In addition to the three refractometers that I own, I also have about 5 hydrometers. Three of the hydrometers are accurate and two are not. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. Sometimes they start out accurate, but then something happens (e.g.a counterweight falls off unnoticed) and all of a sudden it's not accurate any more. Take care of the refractometer and you'll never have to pull out the hydrometer as a back up.

+1.

I also have several hydrometers and refractometer. I always used the hydrometers 3 times to make sure I get the correct measurement. just last week i used the refractometer to double check with the hydrometer and the refractometer was higher .03 higher. it is brand new so right now i don't know which one is corrected.
