greengalaxy November 21, 2014 Share November 21, 2014 Hey im wondering if a squamosa, maxima, crocea, or ORA clams can be placed in a 25 nano cube
YHSublime November 21, 2014 Share November 21, 2014 Yep, it can, I wouldn't suggest it though. I find any clam under 6", especially maximas, usually doesn't fair well. I would also be prepared to dose if you do. Just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.
zygote2k November 25, 2014 Share November 25, 2014 find a clam that is almost as big as the tank and only keep it.
Coral Hind November 25, 2014 Share November 25, 2014 If you have good lighting and start with one over 2" I think you would be fine.
jwalsh November 25, 2014 Share November 25, 2014 Check out the clam forum over on Nano-Reef.com. There's currently an active thread that mirrors your question. Anectodally, I just got a 1.5" maxima from Pacific East and it didn't even last a week in my 5 gallon. Older tanks I feel are important, and in addition to the other variables in my little tank, I think that it was under 1 year old didn't help matters. YHSublime November 25, 2014 Share November 25, 2014 I have lost 3 Maximas all about 5" for reasons explained as "sometimes it happens." My params have been controlled and reasonable. I still have 2 left, both are 6"+ and doing great. I wish my experience was different, I love clams, particularly Maximas, but I won't be adding any if these two don't make it.
