GaryL August 27, 2014 Share August 27, 2014 so I am getting this bloom never had it before. I realize my phosphates are probably high from my too off water so until I get a new set of filters what would eat this. I have a sailfin that's it for algal eaters. gmerek2 August 27, 2014 Share August 27, 2014 I personally would attack it with running aggressive GFO and better skimming and cutting back on feeding. Not sure what that is! bryopsis algae maybe?
GaryL August 27, 2014 Author Share August 27, 2014 In a weird way I kind if like it. Under blue LEDs it fluoresces a little. And I think it makes it look more natural. I do have a phosban reactor and some phosphate sponge I guess it couldn't hurt actually using it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
mogurnda August 27, 2014 Share August 27, 2014 Almost looks like caulerpa to me. The blades seem too even in length for Bryopsis. It can be a pest, but tangs usually eat it. At least mine did.
lutz123 August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 Or an urchin might keep it in check. Mine eat every type of algae (except hair)
GaryL August 28, 2014 Author Share August 28, 2014 Hmm what kind of urchin? They are kind of bulldozers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
smallreef August 28, 2014 Share August 28, 2014 I have some in my display too... My urchin and tang care less for it... It is very easy to pull by hand if you can get to yours... Though keep in mind, if little bits break off it will start wherever it lands... I use a net as I pull so I can catch any floaty bits
zygote2k August 29, 2014 Share August 29, 2014 That is definitely Bryopsis. It's very pretty to look at but it can overrun an entire system. Fish don't eat it. Kill it with high (2000ppm+) Mg.
Jan August 29, 2014 Share August 29, 2014 Kent Marine Tech "M" works like a charm on bryopsi. Test your magnesium. You want to bring it up to 1500, no more than 1600. Squirt the Tech marine Tech M right on the algae. It melts it away. Keeping mag at 1500 will keep it away.
