fphipps August 20, 2014 August 20, 2014 Any one used bumble bees for this? I'm becoming over run with the stars and I believe that they are eating my zoas. I've seen them many times on my zoas and the next day a couple will have bites out of the skirt. I also notice pale spots on my devils hand leather every now and again. So to be on the safe side is like to get something to erradicate them. I've thought about harlequin shrimp but I do not want to have to chop up starfish once the asterinas are gone. Any input is helpful! Thanks!
YHSublime August 21, 2014 August 21, 2014 I think people use harlequin shrimp for this. I've just started siphoning them out every time I do a water change. I'm made a small dent.
Rob A August 21, 2014 August 21, 2014 To echo what Issac said...I recently had my lights out for 24 hours to introduce a new fish and when I turned them back on there were more asterinas than I have ever seen, all over the front glass. They must like to come out at night. I rigged up a hose and dip net and siphoned them out. I would like to find a predator for them as I have seen them on my zoas as well. Oh and they seem to like coralline algae.
sen5241b August 21, 2014 August 21, 2014 I pick them all out. Its time consuming but I got rid of them all but then I never let them get completely out of control.
Rburgee August 21, 2014 August 21, 2014 pass the harle to someone else after eradication is complete?
