In an effort to make more room in my sump is it possible to use a mag pump as an external pump?

they run externally, make sure if you have ever taken it apart that you reseal the housing with silicone gasket sealer

You can use it externally. But personally, I would not. Just one less thing you have to worry about.

Well the reason I want to do it is because of space any ease of changing it out. If it's in the sump it's kind of a pain to switch put

If you run it externally, be sure you use the proper valves and unions to avoid a flood for whebn you need to service it. Running externally will help with heat but I always found them to be noisy when run externally.
