Guest Edwardj February 15, 2006 February 15, 2006 I think one of the best improvements to my tank was adding a "Durso Standpipe". The only noice coming from the tank now is the low hum of the pumps - no gurgles or falling water. here is a link: http://www.dursostandpipes.com/ Edwardj
ErikS February 15, 2006 February 15, 2006 Love 'em, both the Durso & the stockman - where would we be without them? (probably SO's would call for a tank shut down ) Best mod of a Durso I've come across is the "air hole modification" - makes tuning the airflow a snap.
Norboo February 16, 2006 February 16, 2006 I've eliminated parts 2,3,4 and 5 and used 1 1/4" to 1" threaded fitting. Works great!
tygger February 22, 2006 February 22, 2006 Yea, I agree that it eliminates the noise in the overflow, but when I tested this setup, the water crashing into the sump was too noisy. My tank isn't setup yet, but during the testing stages, this method worked best for me... HERE
BeltwayBandit February 22, 2006 February 22, 2006 To eliminate the crashing into the sump noise just pop a couple of 90's in the drain line before it hits the water and plumb the pipe slightly below the water surface in the sump.
