AlanM June 13, 2014 June 13, 2014 We needed something 20-30g that would lock on the top unlike a Brute container. This seems to be pretty much the most cost effective. It's inexpensive and Prime shipping, so free. Think it will work? http://www.amazon.com/Eagle-Polyethylene-Lever-lock-Capacity-Diameter/dp/B0025QI4XC
Coral Hind June 13, 2014 June 13, 2014 I would try to call the company and find out how thick it is or if it was designed for liquid storage. There is a good bit more pressure with water than if it is with dry goods. I've seen similar containers made for dry goods split open when filled with water.
AlanM June 13, 2014 Author June 13, 2014 OK. Will try that. Considering that when I added it to my cart the "others also bought" items were lots of distillers high-gravity yeast and other fermentation supplies apparently there are a lot of people using them to store "water" hehe.
AlanM June 13, 2014 Author June 13, 2014 I see from their webpage that the specs say "No Free Liquids" for this barrel, so you may be right that it isn't strong enough to be filled with water.
AlanM June 13, 2014 Author June 13, 2014 Maybe should just pay more and get this: http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/leg-style-storage-tank-35-gal
AlanM June 16, 2014 Author June 16, 2014 I heard back from their customer support. They say for static storage it is definitely strong enough. They don't certify it for "free liquids" when it's being transported, so I think I'll get that one.
Coral Hind June 17, 2014 June 17, 2014 That's some nice peace of mind to know that they say it is strong enough for liquids. Let us know how it works for you.
