jaddc May 3, 2014 Share May 3, 2014 LOL There are close to 10k species of amphipod and their size can range from from 1 mm to that bohemoth pictured above. Paul is that a Long Island Sound collection?
paul b May 3, 2014 Share May 3, 2014 Yes it is. Here is five gallons of them. Sometimes they are so thick all you have to do is stick your arm in the water and you are covered in them. I would like to go collecting next week if I can find anyone stupid, I mean brave enough to want to wade around in freezing water.

Squishie89 May 16, 2014 Share May 16, 2014 Well there is the tang police. So maybe Pod Permits do exist?
paul b May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 Years ago I used to collect urchins using SCUBA here in NY. I tried to get a permit for them so I went to the Dept of Environmental Conservation and asked them if I needed a permit to collect urchins. They said, What is an urchin? So I guess I didn't need a permit and I collected hundreds of urchins.
YHSublime May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 They said, What is an urchin? You should have made something up. I would have told them it was similar to a mermaid.
paul b May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 They had no clue and looked at me like I had two heads. And those are the people that issue shellfish permits. Urchins here in NY are not considered a food or sport animal so there is no regulation.
