So I am getting new carpet put down in my condo, which means I have to move my 120 gallon for a day. Any ideas on the best way to go about it? Also any ideas of what I should put down on the carpet below the stand? Something that my wife won't hate.

If you must move it, then move it somewhere out the carpet area and move it back once carpet installed.

2nd option is to leave it there and have the carpet installer install carpet strips around the tank stand and have carpet tucked around the stand.

I don't think that you can put down anything on the carpet that your wife won't hate!

Are planning to live there for a long time then do as flooddc suggested. it will be easier and less work on your part.  Moving a 120 with full stock is not easy.

I love the idea of having them carpet around it. I will make sure to buy enough for them to come back and replace the remaining carpet when I move sometime in the future.

Tell the installer to leave you the piece of carpet that will be cut out around the tank. That piece can be seam back (if they made a clean cut) to the carpet if you move in the latter. GL

That's a great idea. My fiance was going to start looking into requesting a new carpet in our apartment, and I told her that was the only way it was going to happen, just carpeting around it. We settled on a steam cleaning, good as new.

Great ideas guys! Obviously my hands spill water all the time on the pergo floor. I leave a towel down at all times. How does dried salt water look on carpet? Does it vaccume up when dried?

Will let you know when I move : O

Depends on the carpet....I have Berber and it doesn't show as long as I get it cleaned up fairly quick...I now have an area rug up against the front of my stand...if not salt on carpet will actually burn it and can discolor it...if it gets to the backing it can make the fibers come off of the backing if its a cheaper carpet...(the main reason people replace carpet when a dog pees on it is because of the salt deposits it leaves, leads to all of the problems, FYI)
