mling January 15, 2014 January 15, 2014 I am considering adding Vida Rocks ( http://cerameco.com/ ) to my systems. They are not cheap but they look real good. The manufacturer claims that it will behave just like live rock once it gets colonized. Has anyone had experience with these in their system ?Oh, if you are interested, there is a group buy for this going on with a date line of Jan 20.
smallreef January 15, 2014 January 15, 2014 I have 2 large pieces in my 150g mixed with some dry rock and live rock I had from my 50g... I feel it it's just as good as live rock...and prettier, lol not that I have any evidence to back that up.... I'm adding 2 more pieces from the GB...and taking out some live rock...I don't imagine there will be any issues...

I am thinking of the Grotto for my 55G, Bonsai for my 16G and Branch for my 156G.
smallreef January 15, 2014 January 15, 2014 I've got a grotto piece and a large bonsai piece..they are in my build thread...I put them in in sept or oct...and moved everything else from my 50g the week of thanksgiving...so for a little while now... I really like them...I'm getting a column piece and a plate to put on the right side of my tank and take out some rock....make it a bit more even...
monkiboy January 15, 2014 January 15, 2014 (edited) i have a few custom pieces in my 400g system of different shapes and sizes. you can check out photos in my build thread if interested. i cycled with only those pieces and had those for about three months and then added some marinepure ceramic blocks. no issues and seemingly "working" as advertised. smallreef January 15, 2014 January 15, 2014 The problem with artificial LR is that it had poor pourosity but this stuff looks like it doesyeah you can feel the 'roughness' and the texture ... if anyone wants to come over and see mine in my tank just let me know.... they have some weight to them too so its not like some of these molded pieces around pvc that i feel like could float...if you couldnt see them just by weight and touch they would seem to be more like rock than any other manmade pieces ive seen...

SaltLife January 16, 2014 January 16, 2014 I did a little bit of trolling around on their website. Look at this link, I think it should answer your question very well on its porosity. http://cerameco.com/vidarock-solution/bio-active/
