sen5241b October 14, 2013 October 14, 2013 Had this coral for months and it was fine. Now it started shrinking. Note the tissue is receding up along the sides in the pic below. Nitrates are zero. Lighting did not change. What gives?
gmerek2 October 14, 2013 October 14, 2013 I had xenia shrink on me. Did a water change and changed out my GFO material since it was getting old. bounced back.
Jason Rhoads October 16, 2013 October 16, 2013 Could it be that your water is "too clean" for this coral? Admittedly, I don't know much about them, but some LPS like dirty water.
lutz123 October 16, 2013 October 16, 2013 Although I don't see anything in the picture, could there be some warfare going on? Any other changes recently?
F&Fmgr October 16, 2013 October 16, 2013 Double check salinity, double check your instrument for measuring salinity. Alkalinity also... Sean
sen5241b October 18, 2013 Author October 18, 2013 I did a 50% water change and added phoshare adsorption media and the blasto is looking better. There was another issue. After feeding my corals, my clown swims over to them and nips at them till they spit out their food and then he eats it. I've seen fish kill corals. Its not unusual. I'm putting a shot glass over the coral till he swallows.
