Cheshireboxers October 9, 2013 Share October 9, 2013 I am getting ready to set up a 125 and 90 gallon tank my question is that I want to share a sump and protein skimmer what size tank do I need to make a sump and what protein skimmer would I need to support both tanks and how much do I look at for the cost of the skimmer Thanks
Origami October 9, 2013 Share October 9, 2013 The biggest sump you can reasonably accommodate. If it has to fit under a stand, then maybe a 75 gallon tank. If not, maybe something larger. An Avast CS3 would work well in this system. Sent from my phone
ctenophore October 10, 2013 Share October 10, 2013 Yes, that is good advice. Pretty much exactly my thoughts as well, except I guess my question would be, what are you planning to keep in the two tanks? If the bioload isn't too high (i.e., mostly small fish and less demanding corals) then the CS1 with a Swabbie neck cleaner would probably be enough. Can you give more details on your plan for the tanks' inhabitants?

Origami October 11, 2013 Share October 11, 2013 1 tank thinking large fish or predators and the other corrals and small fish Large fish + corals => more feeding => more waste => bigger skimmer to remove waste / improve water quality => CS3
