Ok the walmart water vendor RO thingy. It's gonna take several trips. I only have one 4.4 gallon container with a lid. The manager yelled at me for using that. Now imagine trying to use 5 gallon buckets. I could go to quantum reefs but I don't trust 15 miles of water filled buckets with no lids in my brand new car lol.

I was told not to use tap. Can I mix tap with RO and prime?

Lets say I do 15 gallons RO and 10 gallons treated tap. Or no good ?

Sorry for the new thread just wanna get the setup right. To avoid having to tear it down later

Just get the gallon jugs of distilled water at Walmart, or Giant, or Food Lion - doesn't matter.  Once you put tap in - treated or not - you can't take it out without massive water changes.  They are $0.85 - $1.00 each.  It will be fine for getting you started.

The walmart RO unit is 39 cents a gallon. Guess I'm gonna have to take a few trips to fill this thing.

Consider how much gas it's going to take going back and forth...

Then consider the max of $30 for 30 single gallons of distilled.. Is it really worth your time driving back and forth int traffic to save $15?

Not me! Or buy a few more of those containers to fill all at once...

That is true. But I'm gonna have to wait still didnt get live rock. And I have no idea how many lbs the dry rock is

I would just invest in an RO/DI unit.  Going to the store, and buying distilled every time you want to do a water change is going to get old really really fast.

Really fast...plus you need top of water and water to clean things water for doing tests (some have you dilute the tank water) etc. $30 for 30 gallons is not bad. Most LFS charge about $1/gallon anyway. Do yourself a favor and invest in a ro/di.

You never know when you might have to do emergency water changes..
