wade August 26, 2013 Author August 26, 2013 Yeah, I found it after starting this one thanks to Mattie.
wade September 30, 2013 Author September 30, 2013 Wade and others: One of our members, RJT visited the guy behind the Craigslist ad mentioned in post #14 above. He examined both the 55 gallon barrels and the IBC totes. Here's what he came back with: On the food-grade barrel: "Height 40" high 15 1/4" inside top 1/8 inch thick. Top has a 5" removable top in center. Container had two handles built into itself. They are used and have a slight olive smell since that is what they are used for originally. The example barrel had its side indented from shipment, they can pop out but we didn't try to because a hammer would work best." The 5" screw-in plug in the top, for me, is not sufficient access, but others here may be accepting of it for the $30 price. On the IBC Tote: The large container for you is 44" wide 37" high and 37" long and comes with 8" stand the encompasses the entire storage bin." Did you ever start a new thread? Was looking to see if anyone followed up on these barrels.
lutz123 September 30, 2013 September 30, 2013 This was also stated on the Evil Water Barrel thread under member discussion, but 5 or 6 years ago I got several blue barrels (to use with horse jumps) from National Fruit Company in Winchester - White House Apples. They were $2.50 a piece and are used for apple pectin. Not sure who to call there...Customer Service I guess.
Origami September 30, 2013 September 30, 2013 Did you ever start a new thread? Was looking to see if anyone followed up on these barrels. We did follow up. I thought that a new thread was started. Maybe not. I'll post pictures here of what we found out. The only potential issue that I recall was that they smelled of olives or olive oil. Member RJT went to take a closer look at the barrels. He sent me the following comment via email: "Mike is a good guy. Here is the info; Height 40" high 15 1/4" inside top 1/8 inch thick. Top has a 5" removable top in center. "The large container for you is 44" wide 37" high and 37" long and comes with 8" stand the encompasses the entire storage bin" Here's an image of one of the barrels. It was a bit dented, so ignore that. This will give you an idea of what it looks like: Here's what the barrel looks like on the bottom: Here's what it looks like with the cover removed: And, here's what the lid looks like:
