miggs76 July 15, 2013 Share July 15, 2013 (edited) Just noticed this: When I close the cabinet below my tank the pH level drops a few hundredths, but when it is opened it rises a few hundredths. I am assuming it is because the skimmer air intake is down there and with the cabinet closed the air is stagnant. Think it is worth it extending the intake outside the cabinet? Coral Hind July 15, 2013 Share July 15, 2013 I agree I think your skimmer is just recirculating the air intake so no fresh O2 is affecting the pH. There would also be less O2 exchange with the sump with the doors closed. So extending the air intake would help with the skimmer but there would still be limited sump exchange. I would give it a try and see how much it changes things.
Djplus1 July 15, 2013 Share July 15, 2013 If your tank is near a wall, consider running the airline outside.
SaltLife July 16, 2013 Share July 16, 2013 (edited) Why not just put a small quite fan under there to move to air around? Also is a few hundreths really even matter? Haha pretty small thing to worry about. Edited July 16, 2013 by SaltLife
