Djplus1 June 18, 2013 June 18, 2013 Does anyone have experience with Pink Skunk Clowns? I just added a second one to my tank that also has two Occelaris Clowns (1 BW, 1 Normal). I figured the BW Occelaris (tank bully) was kind of picking on 1st pink skunk and keeping him away from one of the 2 anemones, so why not even em out with a pair of skunks. The new skunk is much bigger than I thought it was, maybe 2x the size of the 1st skunk and the BW Occ. So now the new skunk is literally attacking the BW Occ, (a little taste of his own medicine I guess) and tearing little chunks of his fins. Do I let this play out? Will it get better over time or will this fish kill my BW Occ?
roni June 18, 2013 June 18, 2013 To be honest, a 72 gallon isn't big enough for 2 pairs of clowns. Some people have success with multiple non paired clowns and some have success with pairs in larger tanks (6 ft with each pair hosting on one end). I would pick which pair you like better and sell the other. just my 2 cents
Coral Hind June 18, 2013 June 18, 2013 I agree with Roni. I feel you need to pick a pair you like and remove the other one. This type of aggression will probably not slow down and torn fins can lead to other issues like infections.
Djplus1 June 18, 2013 Author June 18, 2013 I wouldn't call the occ's a pair. They are maybe friendly at best as the BW really is a bully and won't let the orange occ near the anemones either. I was just trying to restore a sense of balance. I don't care if they become a mated pair, just some distraction. BTW, the yellow wrasse just awoke from his slumber and appears to have slowed the fighting a bit.
Djplus1 June 18, 2013 Author June 18, 2013 Ok, just caught the little trouble maker. He/she was messing with the other occ. The BW looks rough around the edges, but maybe it learned a lesson that bullying is bad. On another note, check the for sale forum for a nice, well behaved Pink Skunk Clownfish!
