Shoelace April 17, 2013 Share April 17, 2013 I'm in the planning phases for my 25G nano (18" cube) and I've been out of the hobby long enough that I didn't know what a Herbie overflow was. I really like the idea of an ultra quiet overflow, but it looks like it takes up a lot of real estate with two pipes and a large overflow box. Anyone have any advice on a Herbie design with a smaller footprint for a nano? Or should I stick with a traditional overflow?
steveoutlaw April 17, 2013 Share April 17, 2013 For a tank that size, I would go with a Glass Holes Nano overflow. They don't take up much real estate and are very quiet.
Shoelace April 17, 2013 Author Share April 17, 2013 Thanks for the suggestion! I guess my feeling is right that a Herbie is a bit much for a small nano?
steveoutlaw April 17, 2013 Share April 17, 2013 YepYeYepYyYep - you won't have enough flow for the Herbie to do you any good. I think you'll like the glassholes overflow.
PK3 April 17, 2013 Share April 17, 2013 Although, you will lose out on one of the biggest benefits of going with a Herbie, which is the extra emergency drain. To me, that is more important than the silent factor.
Jason Rhoads April 18, 2013 Share April 18, 2013 I have an overflow and glass bit if you want it. Shoot me a PM if you are interested
Shoelace April 18, 2013 Author Share April 18, 2013 Thanks, Jason... Already pulled the trigger on a Glass-Holes kit. I appreciate it, though.
