Need advice on how to handle bleaching SPS tips

I still can't figure out what caused bleaching to the tips of 3 SPS on the right side of my DT. It;s a puzzle. With trying to catch these fish and focusing on the Qt's I've neglected my DT a little. I've taken longer than I should to change my GFO. The white tips have turned green and fuzzy. Algae is growing on them.

 

Do I snip the tips and let them be? Snip the tips an use glue to seal them off? My concern is twofold; if I snip the tips algae will grow on them again or I'll cause these corals to go into RTN.

 

I think I thaw a puddy cat....LOL...that's not right. I think I saw a whelk. Do whelks eat tissue off of corals? Still trying to figure how and why this happened to just these 3 SPS on the right side of the DT.

Sounds like you've had a little alk burn issue. I would snip the tips and let them grow back.

Ok. Here goes...off to cut the tips. The lil acro crab is going to get pissed at me for messing with its home.

What Alkalinity do you target? Are the tips malformed as well? Has the lighting changed at all? Generally speaking, hobbyist maintaining an ULNS with alkalinity of 9dkh or greater report SPS tips burning.

Following along! I have the same issue only on these two (green digitata and green millipora). I nipped off those too but seem to be slowly continue. If it alk burn, why not the other sps?

considering its just the three and there is a large Gorg and some other softies around there, im actually going to go with coral warfare...it kinda looks like a sting to me.

 

alk would be my second guess but second i saw the pics prior to reading i thought that gorg or somethign is burning or some form of chemical warfare is going on.

 

but lets get some alk readings etc...the more info the more likely to have a correct anwser

Some corals are more sensitive than others. Take note of which corals are affected and use that as an early warning signal. Are you carbon dosing?

Please post alkalinity readings over the last 8 weeks.
