Kingumar March 21, 2013 Share March 21, 2013 I bought the BRS 2 part calcium and alkalinity about a year ago and didnt really use it. It came with the 1 gallon of calcium, kalk, alk, and meg. I just took them out and they were clumped together. I gave it a good shake and broke it up. Is it safe to use it in the tank?
ExoticReefCreations March 21, 2013 Share March 21, 2013 That usually is a sign of moisture. I had it happen with some of the brs part a and b and still used it with no issue. Whether or not its a good idea not sure interested to see what others have to say
Origami March 21, 2013 Share March 21, 2013 The calcium and magnesium components are probably calcium chloride and magnesium chloride. The alkalinity is probably sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate. Exposure to moisture won't be much of a problem with any of these and they should still dissolve cleanly. Take a sample of each and, in a clear cup of RO/DI, see if they dissolve cleanly and completely. If they do, I think that you'll be fine. Seal the stuff up tightly and store it somewhere cool and dry if you're able.
