sachabballi reef March 7, 2013 Author March 7, 2013 yea I think I will do the ping ball one....I guess I have to call that company you linked Basser as you can't just click on it and order for some odd reason...and not too many others seem to sell them...I like that one because it works or a 5 or 7 gallon bucket. thanks for all your help with this boys
basser9 March 7, 2013 March 7, 2013 They sell a nice air cleaner thats great for your dual beckett. It will keep things quit and if you smoke or kitchen is close to your tank it is a nice thing to have. Its in there accessory dept. You can leave your skimmer alone for months at a time with the 5gallon overflow if you run the water low for a dry skimmate......good luck
sachabballi reef March 7, 2013 Author March 7, 2013 fortunately I will be running all equipment behind the wall in the storage area of the basement...so should be quiet and smell free :0 again, thanks for all your assistance on this. It is truly appreciated!!!
Origami March 7, 2013 March 7, 2013 I guess that I don't understand why you're saying what you are. These lockers are vented. he ping pong ball rises on the surface of the liquid in the locker to block off the air flow and effectively cuts off the air intake to the injector. In the second approach, the rising liquid level in the locker traps air in the sensor tube and triggers a remotely located pressure switch to shut off the pump (note that the air into the skimmer does not pass through the locker in this case). Both methods seem equivalent and responsive to the liquid level in the locker. Neither incorporates electronic or electrical equipment inside the locker. Neither relies on mechanical equipment with tight tolerances that could jam up inside the locker. In fact, the AVAST approach has no moving parts in the locker (in contrast to a ping-pong ball design). Can you elaborate beyond the statement, "those skimmer are so strong?" The fact that your pingpong type works for you does not preclude another working solution.
sachabballi reef March 7, 2013 Author March 7, 2013 I have to admit I like the idea of being able to connect to the apex... http://www.avastmarine.com/ssc/do/product/Davy-Jones-Skimmate-Superlocker
