marinap February 28, 2013 Share February 28, 2013 I would like to have a floating canopy built for my tank. Canopy will contain 2X400W on lumenbright shells and 2 DIY led units. I would guess the weight to be around 50lb... Is this kit the one that I want to use (Current USA sunpod)? http://www.amazon.com/Current-USA-Orbit-SunPod-Hanging/dp/B000YJ0N5Y/ref=pd_sim_sbs_petsupplies_2 Ideas about floating canopies are welcome
Der ABT February 28, 2013 Share February 28, 2013 (edited) google plant hanger and you will see a bunch of cheap options majority of them are very cheap so not sure how they would hold up over time but most are rated to different weights....so with 4 it would be pretty easy to life the canopy. or look at the bike hanging kits/garage storage kits. or if yuor lazy http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00260GL1Y/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=hi Edited February 28, 2013 by Der ABT
teamschreiba February 28, 2013 Share February 28, 2013 I just built a floating canopy and was considering using a kit like the one you linked to but ended up using a planter type hook with chain that you can see in the top of the picture. The chain is just so much easier to manage and setup even if it doesn't look quite as nice as thin wire would. My canopy probably weights 30 lbs max too and the hooks in the ceiling and chain are all rated for much higher than that.
zygote2k February 28, 2013 Share February 28, 2013 If you've ever built a box kite and can picture what the offspring of a box kite and a lampshade would look like, you'd have one. Japanese paper lamp.....
