Caribbean Jake September 28, 2005 September 28, 2005 Howard I understand. I am just making an observation point to those who only check temp at one location in there tanks, that's all. There should be no more than a 5 to 7 degree difference between 12 noon and 12 midnight. Why? because when the sun is sleeping the MOON can not heat the sea water and yes the temp in the water drops several degrees... that is nature and is normal, same applies to depth, the temp at the upper layers of the water are warmer than those at 50m and 100m below surface, again, that is nature.
Lee Stearns September 28, 2005 September 28, 2005 That is a good point- My temperature has been running a bit higher lately and I was not sure why- I generally measure it with a wired digital thermometer in my overflow behind the bulkhead- I moved the probe a bit upward by accident while moving the canopy and it measures higher up in the water column. When it was lower in that lower flow area I was getting almost a degree cooler reading. I guess I need to run the wire inside the tank area down to about the level of my sps to see what they are actually at- easy fix along the back wall. But I would think there is enough flow to keep the water temp fairly constant from top to bottom inside the tank.
