SunWyrm January 14, 2013 January 14, 2013 Thought I'd post this for everybody to have fun with, I need some ideas for stocking the 180. Looking to keep lots of pretty macro algae in there along with the current snowflake eel, dogface and porcupine puffers, and picasso trigger. My thoughts so far: Niger trigger Red coris wrasse ? Butterfly pair, Pakistan maybe? I can't crowd this too much more, but I feel like I'm coming up a little short (which might not be a bad thing). I was planning on putting my misfit damsels in there before I added the trigger - he's tiny atm but I'm not sure how he'd treat them as he grows. Actually, I'm pretty sure he'd treat them like lunch...
smallreef January 14, 2013 January 14, 2013 I had some smaller fish in with my triggers in my old 150g and they didn't try and eat them, lol I love nigers, they get sooo pretty (was my fave in my tank) and personally
Coral Hind January 14, 2013 January 14, 2013 I would add some of the larger type wrasses to give the tank some extra movement.
SunWyrm January 14, 2013 Author January 14, 2013 My Niger just went missing, not sure what happened but he was "mine" and the humu is my husband's choice. Very sad. The awesome Quantum Reefs guys are ordering me a bigger one in case it was my husband's trigger that did mine in. He was just starting to eat out of my hand too. I'll go ahead and add my damsels when I can catch them. I think my grumpy huchtii's might be nice in there too. I'd love to do a little group of maybe some yellowtail or azure in there (the original plan when I only had the snowflake) but I wonder if they might pick each other off? I'd love to add wrasse in there, but what kinds? I had thought about Halichoeres sp. for the 360, but I'm rethinking that in favor of a variety of shrimps. Would they work in there? I also can't have any cleaners in there, so help me if some of these tend to clean larger fish. My dogface would hate me if I put another one in, the last cleaner wrasse irritated him too much. I also know that we would like to do a Harlequin Tusk again at some point, though I think we might try for a juv this go around. How is your new one doing? I hope my skimmer/system can handle all the fish I'm wanting lol.
SunWyrm January 14, 2013 Author January 14, 2013 (edited) I'd love an angelfish, but how would it do with the macroalgae? My favorite is the Majestic. Not a lot of people keep macro display tanks, and even less have them on a larger scale like a 180. Edited January 14, 2013 by YiatzOfEden

Well established is defined as you are pulling/trimming at least bi-weekly.
DepT January 15, 2013 January 15, 2013 Niger Triggers are great. I had one in the past for several years...it was my favorite fish. Once my 90 is up and running I will definitely be getting another.
