smallreef December 29, 2012 Share December 29, 2012 I have mine on opposite my main lights, also this tends to keep your PH even....
zygote2k December 29, 2012 Share December 29, 2012 the theory behind running the fuge lights opposite the DT lights is to keep the pH stable when photosynthesis in the DT stops due to nightfall. this theory is sound providing you have a large enough fuge with enough algae in more or less equal amounts compared to the coral in the DT. for those of you with DTs that are 10 times bigger than the fuge, run the lights whenever you want because it won't make a dent in the pH. jimlin December 29, 2012 Share December 29, 2012 when my tank was up and running, i had it operating opposite main lights. main light on 7 hrs, fuge light on 17 hrs.
OldReefer December 31, 2012 Share December 31, 2012 I have always run opposite. With big fuges (like 90 gallon on a 180), I would see a big pH effect. Now I am running about 20 gallons of chaeto on a 150, and I just leave the light on all the time.
