Incredible Corals September 3, 2012 September 3, 2012 1/2 is plenty thick. I have 3/4" in my tank and it's overkill. You can drill your rocks with a hole saw bit from lowes or home depot. The bits made for wood work just fine.
jacksammoms-tank September 28, 2012 Author September 28, 2012 Finally the replacement top frame came in! Now the pressing question is how much of the old "silicone" do I have to remove? I have gone through 10 blades and cannot get anymore to come off of the top edge of the glass. The blades are actually splitting. Also, do I need to use Marine silicone or would a HD or Lowes type work? Marine is expensive, but replacing everything is more. Thoughts anyone? Thanks, Toni, Jack and Sam

Origami September 28, 2012 September 28, 2012 GE 100% Silicone I (not II) Windows & Doors will work fine. Give it a week to cure even (to be safe) if it's out of the water like yours is. jacksammoms-tank October 2, 2012 Author October 2, 2012 OK, getting ready to transfer stuff over, but what is the best order to do it and how? When we have the 65 ready on stand, plumbed etc., I will need to empty and clean the 30 and silicone in baffles. Allow to dry for the few days. Should I move the 10 gallon sump and use it as the temp sump? thanks, Toni
smallreef October 2, 2012 October 2, 2012 Thats what I would do...use the 10g until the 30g is done... as far as the transfer... make sure you have enough new water made so its like doing a water change at the same time.. use as much from the 30g and then add the new 35g+ a few g for the sump... you will also need to have more when the larger sump is ready to be put in... I prefer to use all new sand, then transfer the rock(make sure to push it down so it sits on the glass bottom)... then put in the new water... then transfer 1/2 of the old water and all the fish and the last of the water .. This is assuming all of your plumbing is done...

Its 250 watts and would fit perfectly on top of the tank. It comes with hanging fixtures and ballast. This set up for $100. Do not know if that is what I want since MHs are hot. RIght? smallreef October 3, 2012 October 3, 2012 MH's are great...as long as you can keep them cool..with that being said, haging it above the tank or atleast NOT having it in a canopy you shouldnt have to much of a problem...
