Flip July 11, 2012 July 11, 2012 I have not bought fish for a few years (the last time was at Fish World in Richmond) and would like to pick up a Yellow Eye Kole Tang. Joe down at FW said he should be getting a few in the coming weeks. Also, I saw that Diver Den has a very nice one, but Jan's recent issues has left me gun shy with mail order. Any suggestions? Should I just make the trip to Richmond? Thanks, Dave
Jan July 11, 2012 July 11, 2012 Sean at Fins & Feathers may also have them. He QT's and treats all of his fish. Not that you should buy and not QT. QT everything. As far as DD goes I really believe that was a fluke (pun intended). Both fish came from two different locations. The issues with the male Watanabei were apparent as soon as I put him in the pail. After 19 days of treating he died. DD has offered to replace him free of charge. That's a $250.00+ fish. They replaced the first one too, free of charge. That was $119.00 fish from their California vendor. They're doing the right thing. I can't stop thinking that it's all related to the economy. So many cut backs and there's a domino effect. I'm not saying that Drs. Foster and Smith has cut back on anything. I don't know that to be true, but maybe their suppliers and vendors aren't weeding out what they should? I really don't know. I've not had these issues with them in the past. The coral farm manager in Wisconsin was in constant contact with me about these fish. I had his direct line and email address for any guidance, questions and concerns. He always got back to me the same day. From customer service to Coral farm, Drs. Foster and Smith was very attentive, very concerned and always available to me. They've done the right thing. I've had the same, if not more, attention from Sean of Fins & Feathers.
Amuze July 11, 2012 July 11, 2012 Sean at fins and feathers is the best local (and one of the best non-local) to get fish from. Go there. He will get what you want if he does not already have it in stock.
HDReef July 11, 2012 July 11, 2012 +4 on Fins and Feathers. Sean's treatment for new fish is top notch.
