surf&turf July 9, 2012 July 9, 2012 I thought this was interesting. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/blog/how-to-determine-the-sex-of-banggai-cardinalfish
Sharkey18 July 9, 2012 July 9, 2012 I have tried to use this method several times. The best way I found was to take pictures and then enlarge them on the computer to see the vents. They are so darn small that I can't identify one or two without magnification. The whole swimming around thing doesn't help either. I've thought about pulling them out and examining them with a magnifier but that seemed like too much work and too stressful for the fish. What I ended up doing? Put a bunch in a tank and wait for pairs to form. Once a pair forms you have a male and a female and then I removed them to their own tank.
dipg July 9, 2012 July 9, 2012 nice article...I have single bangaii cardinal and have been thinking for quite a while to get a pair but i was always worried that what if i end up with two males and one kills another. I guess I will have to go home today and take some pictures.
treesprite July 20, 2012 July 20, 2012 I keep looking at these threads on breeding bangaii.... I was never very attracted to these fish, but I have been re-thinking it lately. Are other cardinals as easily bred as the bangaiis are?
