Omair November 6, 2011 November 6, 2011 Does anyone have experience with this fixture? Is it capable of growing SPS?
collegeman November 6, 2011 November 6, 2011 I would not recommend the fixture for growing any type of coral unless the tank is extremely shallow. I had one over my fowlr and it still was not enough light for my liking.
SunWyrm November 6, 2011 November 6, 2011 (edited) I had one over my 15 and it did fine until the outlet on the light rusted and it will no longer works, it flickered until it died but at least it's still under warranty. It's gotten a few good reviews and has decent par though I personally don't think it's worth the money. Edit: I killed off my sps with rtn when I ran it, so I never really had experience with good sps growth with it. I'm running these now with very nice growth: http://www.tbaquatics.com/swc-xtreme-cree-led-60-watt-light-932.html?zenid=88d43268be5f3babad6f8acf4c1e3e9d (2 on my 75g) Edited November 6, 2011 by YiatzOfEden
Supreme Reefs November 6, 2011 November 6, 2011 One of the worst LED fixtures you can get for a reef.

zygote2k November 6, 2011 November 6, 2011 (edited) I personally use one of these over a 75g tank with the following corals- Leptastrea, Zoanthids, Sinularia, Montipora, Mushrooms, Duncan, RBTA, an unknown acropora frag. All corals are growing just fine under this light. If this light were on a deeper tank, then you couldn't get much light to the bottom and would have to place the corals accordingly. As mentioned before, the light socket does have a tendency to corrode and fail to make contact, but this can be as simple as adding some dielectric grease to the point of contact to keep salt corrosion out. SunWyrm November 6, 2011 November 6, 2011 Zygote, think I could add grease to mine to make it work again? Or should I just send it back and do that with the next fixture? lol
daharley November 6, 2011 November 6, 2011 Had to rewire mine. removed normal plug and spliced directly. both of mine went like that and one shot a little fire
