A freind of mind was asking if it would be safe to add a T5 blacklight to his fixture. He's having a big party and wants the tank to only have one T5 blacklight bulb on. Also, it would only be a one day thing.

The bulb might get to much power to it. I doubt its a HO T5 bulb. If I were him I would use a stand alone blacklight fixture over top.. The black light really doesnt do much inside the tank, probably would look better with those blue CF party bulbs or LED's.. They also have those CF party bulbs in a black light.

I know of at least one long-term WAMAS member who has a standard incandescent black light over his tank (or did before he moved) :)

You talking about me Chad?

It is actually a CF black light bulb as trockafella mentioned and I had it running for five years as a night light. It really makes certain corals glow at night and I never saw any side effects from it.

Hey! I never got to see this ;-(

Sean from the store in Reston had a back light over one of his tanks and the corals looked awsome.

Check this out......

The blue is a perfect spectrum and has great par if you find the right reflecter.

I love the blue and uv they are great lights.

Those 2 lights combined with leds can make a perfect radium copy.
