Guys,

My urchin that was doing so great for a couple of weeks or so, I discovered on the sand upside down when I came home today. I thought that they could correct themselves easily but when I put him the right side down I discovered many spikes had fallen off. My water parameters are normal and everybody else in the tank seems to be doing great. Despite the fact that the urchin is on his right side now, he hasn't moved a bit for 20 mins. The tentacles are active but I am afraid I am losing him to something.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks!

Moved him to my SUMP. Looks normal now. I think I will wait and see...

If it was upside down and spikes are falling out, its likely dead. Are you sure it isn't just flow moving the dead spikes around?

Leave it be for a few days. If it doesn't move at all, rinse it, soak in bleach water for a while and let it dry. Their skeletons are pretty cool.

I moved him to the SUMP. He is active and he moves around but not looking healthy at all. I was wondering what could have caused that?!

BTW, I just fed the tank inhabitants some baby octopus and boy, did they love it?!

Duh! I never thought of that! I literally don't have any algae what so ever on the rocks or anywhere! I might attach some nori to a rock and see what happens! Thanks for the suggestion!

Does he have enough to eat. Might want to give him some nori attached to a rock.

Put some Nori and placed the urchin right on top of it. Hopefully he will feast on some and some more...

I wish I had that problem!!!

Hahah! Did you wanna hire my urchin for lawn mowing services? He doesn't charge much...
