Papa Splax March 27, 2011 March 27, 2011 Is this just Anenome waste? i read numerous articles on ppl never having seen an anenome doing this after decades... is this maybe that i watch my fish to much? or is this bad and shouldnt be happening
dakotasreef March 27, 2011 March 27, 2011 It could be waste. It could also be the anemone expelling zooanthelle(sp). Which could be from stress or an increase in lighting. I am by no means an anemone expert though.
Coral Hind March 27, 2011 March 27, 2011 dakotasreef is right on, it is either waste form yesterday's meal or zooxanthellae being expelled. Have you done anything to increase the lights like change out the bulbs, add fresh carbon, or do a large water change? If nitrates or temperature get high they can also start to expell the algae.
Papa Splax March 27, 2011 Author March 27, 2011 As for the Anenome's themselves there are 3 of which at different levels of the tank... I have seen each one do this atleast 1x in the last week... they all have been in the tank less than 2 weeks... but nothing was changed with the tank no sudden changes
dakotasreef March 27, 2011 March 27, 2011 I would think they are acclimating to your tank then. Just monitor them as the week goes on. I would think they should be fine. Keep us updated.
Coral Hind March 27, 2011 March 27, 2011 I agree, they are just acclimating or else they are eating small food items from when you feed the fish. Either way, they sound fine.
LanglandJoshua March 28, 2011 March 28, 2011 Ive had anemone's do that as well...one way in and one way out for the food... as for the zooxanthelle, that is an odd reaction...glad I have not seen that!
