Kingumar January 28, 2011 January 28, 2011 I bought a 4-6" rbta a couple of weeks ago. I got it from a guy whose anemonie split and this was one of the babies. Now I placed the anem on a rock with a big hole in the middle and that rock is sitting on my sand bed. The rbtas tips are really bubbley but it wont open like I see it in other peoples tanks with long tenticles. When the lights come on, its come up, expands a bit but the tips are still the same. It looks happy but I was thinking it would open more so I can enjoy its presence in the tank. I have 2x250w + 4x54w fixture on the tank.
zygote2k January 28, 2011 January 28, 2011 It's an anemone. It'll do as it wishes. All you have to do is provide good, clean water.
Dragon Eye January 28, 2011 January 28, 2011 You could consider yourself lucky. A lot of people want the bubbly tentacles over the longer ones. There are lots of theories, but really, its going to do what its going to do. Just make sure it has plenty of light.
Coral Hind January 28, 2011 January 28, 2011 Once the anemone settles in, and relaxes it normally will lose the bubbles and get stringy. If you were put in a new environment and you didn't know if something out there might try to hurt you, you wouldn't want to stretch yourself out and become vulnerable right away.
davelin315 January 28, 2011 January 28, 2011 Mine actually go back and forth. They are currently in a state of bubbles and have been since I last changed out my bulbs. As my lights turn off, the bubble tips go away and they become stringy again. Kind of neat to watch as they go through the progression.
