zobey December 29, 2010 December 29, 2010 what to do about increasing problem with hair algae. I have noticed increasing amounts of hair algae getting out of control in my tank. are there any natural ways to rid the tank of it? any kind of fish or inverts that will chip away at it?
Coral Hind December 29, 2010 December 29, 2010 Sea hares and queen conchs worked great for me. Tangs and algae eating crabs also help. Tell us a little more about what you have currently so we can offer more advice.
trockafella December 29, 2010 December 29, 2010 What are you tank params.? Nitrate or Phosphate real High.? What type of water, ro/di, well, tap..? Lighting, type and amount, hours on..? Etc.....
FearTheTerps December 30, 2010 December 30, 2010 Finding the source of the problem is key. Overfeeding?, lack of water changes?, new tank? I had a really bad hair aglae problem before in a new set up. I ran GFO, got alot of hermits and snails, and manually removed as much as possible. Removing all by hand seemed to help the best. Turn all your pumps and powerheads off and just pull off as much as possible, a fish net helps with getting all the little bits that float around.
