OUsnakebyte September 3, 2003 September 3, 2003 Hello everybody. I just moved to the DC area (Dupont) last June, and I brought my 75 reef with me (yea that move sucked). Most of my livestock made it just fine (I lost all my Xenias and my HUGE colt coral though). Anyway, I was wondering about local fish stores (best place to go, high quality live stock, etc.) I don't have a car, so it would have to be accessible via metro (although I am thinking about signing up for Flexcar). Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
Larry Grenier September 3, 2003 September 3, 2003 Hey Michael, go to my web page and you'll find links to several reef places in the area. If you want some pulsing Xenia, let me know. It's a nutrient export in my tank :p

Guest glaze September 3, 2003 September 3, 2003 OUSnakebyte, Welcome to DC. I also live in the city. There isn't much that's metro accessible (especially if you're hauling delicate corals) but your best bets without a car are Congressional Aquarium and Tropical Lagoon. Congressional Aquarium is on Rockville Pike in Gaithersburg, closest to Twinbrook metro I think on the red line. It's not right next to the Metro so you'd have to take a bus or walk. Tropical Lagoon is on Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring, near the Forest Glen metro. Not too long a walk but you have to cross under the beltway and across a six-lane street and then you're looking at a long metro ride home. Flexcar and zip car are good bets for getting to all the other LFS's. Other local reefers can give you reviews of the places around here, but keep in mind that Baltimore has a couple of good ones too. Good luck.
