Kristen9 November 20, 2010 November 20, 2010 (edited) Hello, My K2 viper 150W has a short; It has since I bought it, but used to work once it 'got going'. Now it wont even turn on. The button lights up when I turn it on, so the power is getting to the box, but its not making that MH start up noise it used to. Does anyone have experience with this? could it be the fuse or is something shorting in the box? Does anyone have an extra 150 box? Any help or ideas would be great! gwweber November 20, 2010 November 20, 2010 You may have a end of life sensor on the ballast for the bulb. However, a new ballast is not too expensive if you need one. You can bring it by if you want me to check it out. I have a ballast that is easy to get to for test purposes. I also have a bulb to throw in there.
OldReefer November 20, 2010 November 20, 2010 I have an entire K2 Viper sitting in my garage. Works perfect except for the fan. Willing to sell it cheap if it helps.
Coral Hind November 20, 2010 November 20, 2010 It sounds like an open somewhere and not a short as a short normally trips a breaker. It could be many things from the fuse, wiring, capacitor, ballast, or lamp holders. If you bring it over I can look at it.
