Incredible Corals June 9, 2010 June 9, 2010 Any idea what type of SPS this is? Under my lighting the polyps are bright orange. With the days go off and only actinics, it glows red like a hot piece of steel.
reefhunter June 9, 2010 June 9, 2010 its a digitata but not sure which exactly.. what color is the base? Nice piece1
Sharkey18 June 9, 2010 June 9, 2010 I have something similar that was sold as a red montipora digitata..... Laura
Incredible Corals June 9, 2010 Author June 9, 2010 You are all right. I googled it and it looks just like Orange Montipora Digitata. Thanks!
Coral Hind June 9, 2010 June 9, 2010 We get lucky every once in awhile. Those white tips are a good sign that it is growing fast. It must be happy in your tank.
watson_barrett June 9, 2010 June 9, 2010 I think that is the one with a green base. I have seen it called miami hurricane digi but not sure if it has an official common name within reef community. I don't think that is your typical "orange digi" but am not certain. I have 4 huge colonies of it now that all started from a small 2" frag from leishman a year and a half ago. Great grower, pretty, and hardy coral.
trockafella June 9, 2010 June 9, 2010 If it has a greenish base its a forest fire digitata, if not an orange digitata, they look similar.. Looks good and healthy..!
Coral Hind June 9, 2010 June 9, 2010 If it has a blue base, it is sometimes called the Superman Montipora digitata.
