magnetic1 May 24, 2010 May 24, 2010 Just got my results back from Aquarium Water Testing... Copper tested at 0.10 mg/L Silica tested at 0.8 mg/L They recommend using a silica specific RO membrane? What is this and any recommendations? The copper I dont get though. We dont have copper pipes, and all water goes through RODI with water coming out at 0 TDS. Any clues as to where copper is being introduced into the system???
Coral Hind May 25, 2010 May 25, 2010 Do you have any used equipment or substrate that might have come from a system which used copper? Have you used any medicines which might have had copper? Any kids make and wishes in the tank lately? I always keep a cuprisorb pillow in my sump 24/7 just in case. I would give AWI a call to see what they recommend as far as the silica filter. They are great people to seek advice from. I know SpectraPure makes a silica-buster DI cartridge.
magnetic1 May 25, 2010 Author May 25, 2010 Ill give AWI a call tomorrow. I have some used powerheads, that could be a source. I just put in a nice large bag of carbon now just in case.
silverspringnano May 25, 2010 May 25, 2010 I know Kent makes a Hi-S RO/DI system (High Silicate Removal). I'm sure you could source the membrane separately. HTH.
