Der ABT April 22, 2010 April 22, 2010 (edited) A few of my acro's have devolped small blister over the last while here, with the baby i havent had much time to take pics etc but its been going on for a while. What ive read says that it happens, dont know why, and not much you can do about it. so here are the pics, one colony and on one valadia frag. one that popped forming and on another coral many others seem fine, have good PE and are healthy otherwise. any thoughts etc would be appreciated. Coral Hind April 22, 2010 April 22, 2010 What lighting are they under and for how long are the lights on. Are blisters fluid filled or air?
Der ABT April 22, 2010 Author April 22, 2010 they are under 2x250 Mh 20k Xms about 2 mo old, 2x54w t5 (in need of replacement) but the first colony has been in the same place for about 5 months id say and in the last month or so came about. t5s are on for 12 hours MH on for 7.5
El Camaron April 22, 2010 April 22, 2010 i seen this happen on someones tank and could not figure what it was or what caused it either.

Coral Hind April 23, 2010 April 23, 2010 I am guessing that it is light related since it seems to be on the top sides of the tips. I am thinking because of the growth in that area the tissue is loosely bonded to the skeleton and it is becoming inflated.
Coral Hind April 23, 2010 April 23, 2010 I found the info below at this site. Coral Tissue Bubbles : At times, a coral may exhibit what appears to be bubble shaped voids under the corals tissue, its usually a damage induced reproductive strategy that (may) lead to a polyp bailout. It can simply be caused by stress (as with light shock from a change of lamps, increase in light, sudden use of carbon or water changes that drastically clarifies water, etc)... or it can be stimulated by a burn from another attacking coral.
Der ABT April 23, 2010 Author April 23, 2010 lamps where changed in february and this has really started to show itself lately. I did have a carbon od not too long ago ut i mean the bubble in the pick has developed in the last two weeks when i was having a baby. and NOTHING changed during that period. hmm, i know im going to change the t5s as soon as i find them for the right price. both those corals are mid tank, my 250s are about 12 inches off the water i think so i cant believe it would be too much light, specially when they came from systems running 400s and not deep at all. thanks for the article David. hopefully it doesnt harm anything. and doesnt start on more corals
