TonyInVa March 10, 2010 March 10, 2010 (edited) Painted backround blue. Painted bottom to look like sand incase I later decide to go bare bottom Installed and wired switches. This will help with maintenance. Have to put face plates on switches and outlets. Will also cover with plastic to prevent water from getting in. This is a picture of relief. Actually it is the glass cut out for the bulk head. I was a bit nervous. First time I have drilled a tank. Went with a Glassholes.com overflow. In my past tank, live rock falling over was an issue. So I made rock formations with dead rock I had. I used PVC pipe that I cut in quarter diameter. I then drilled holes in the rock and used the PVC to hold them together. This picture shows the back of the formation, where the PVC is visible. Here you can see the Current Hanging Arms I used to hang the lights. I also added the sand and rock formations IMG]http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i305/arburnley/Fishtank%20Build/DSCN1388.jpg[/img] Aqua Medic Light Fixture. Two 250 watt MH and four T5s. You can also see the velcro used to hold the cherry wood used to cover the oak trim. (Originally my wife wanted oak) Started filling with water. Lights on but with old bulbs. I purchased two new Pkoenix 14k bulbs and four new T5 Actinics Now I will have to wait for the tank to cycle. Edited March 10, 2010 by TonyInVa
TonyInVa March 10, 2010 Author March 10, 2010 Looking good. Let's get the rock in there! I accidently hit post when I was still adding pictures.
Coral Hind March 10, 2010 March 10, 2010 I like the rock structures you made. I think the cherry looks nicer then the oak.

TonyInVa August 7, 2010 Author August 7, 2010 Here are some updates: I went through some problems in the last couple of months. I had a huge hair algae problem. I was not feeding very heavy so was not sure what the problems were. All perameters seemed to be inline. My clean up crew started dieing, and as I replaced them, the new clean up crew died. I bought a Seahare. It died in three days.I lost most of my hard corals. But all my perameters seemed fine. As I was looking through the board I came across someone telling another member that they should soak there hydrometer in vinegar, because it could be giving them false readings. So I decided to do this, which showed me I was getting false reading on my Specific Gravity. It was reading off the chart, so it was over 1.032. That day I went and bought a Refractometer. Since then my problems started getting better. Because I had gone through 3 clean up crews, my nutrients were very high.I dosed vodka and slowly waited things out. I am now getting good growth and colors. So here is the tank today. The first two pics show the algae(no where near its worst)
